Happy Father's Day from Silver Spring — A Beautiful Day on the Course
Posted June 21, 2026 · From around the course
Happy Father's Day from everyone at Silver Spring! What a great day it was to be out on the course with family, friends, and fellow golfers.
The greens were great, as usual. Overhead, the clouds looked like marshmallows drifting across the sky, and a nice breeze kept the day comfortable from the first tee to the last putt. It was the kind of day that reminds us why a round of golf is such a good way to spend time together.
A great day for golf
The fairways looked strong, the greens rolled well, and the whole course had that easy early-summer feel. Thank you to every father, grandfather, son, daughter, and family who chose to spend part of the day with us.
Rain on the way
The greens and fairways will be looking forward to the incoming rain. A good drink will help keep the course healthy and ready for the summer rounds ahead.
Thanks again to everyone who came out and made Father's Day a memorable one at Silver Spring. We'll keep the course updates coming, so check back soon for more from around the course.

June 10, 2026Long Days, Same Strong Conditions — A Mid-June Note from Silver Spring
Read this update ›
A week on from our last walk-around and the course is settling deeper into summer. We're a stretch away from the longest day of the year, which means twilight at Silver Spring is a real round now — you can tee off after work and still finish nine in good light. If you haven't taken advantage of that yet this season, this is the week to start.
The greens picked up right where they left off. Same true roll, same tight surfaces, same quiet, steady work from Jimmy and the crew that keeps them that way. Nothing dramatic has changed — and that's the point. A community course in this kind of condition, this consistently, doesn't happen by accident.
Conditions are holding
Fairways are still full. The summer color hasn't gone anywhere. The rough is the kind of rough that makes you think a little harder about your line off the tee without ever feeling unfair. Greens are reading clean — the same Hole 5 and Hole 6 surfaces we mentioned last week are still rolling beautifully, and a few of the back-nine greens are right there with them.
Same standouts, still rolling
Hole 6 in particular is still putting on a show — the same clubhouse-view green that looked great last week looked just as good today, and the back nine pin positions had a few putts dropping that felt earned. If you want a quick way to judge a course in mid-summer, that's it: same surface a week later, no slipping.
When to come out
Twilight is the move. Long evenings, soft light, and a tee sheet that opens up after the day winds down. Twilight is $20 walking on the weekend — hard to beat for a quick nine after work.
Mid-week mornings are still wide open. Walk on, no wait. If your schedule is flexible, this is the version of Silver Spring most people don't get to see — quiet, unhurried, and in the best shape it's been in all season.
Weekends are busier but not stacked. A little more energy, more groups, but still nothing that feels rushed. Bring a guest. Bring someone who hasn't played here in a while. The course is genuinely worth showing off right now.
A reminder on what keeps this going
Silver Spring is a volunteer-run, community course. Jimmy and the rest of the grounds crew are out here because they care about the place — and every round you play here is part of what keeps it open and affordable for everybody else in Riverside and East Providence who wants to play.
If you've been holding off on a round, don't. The course won't be in better shape than it is right now.

June 2, 2026The Greens Just Keep Getting Better — A June Walk Around Silver Spring
Read this update ›
We took a walk around Silver Spring today and the course is reading the room. Early summer in Riverside, blue sky, a little breeze coming through — and the greens, honestly, are the best they've looked in a while. Putts are rolling true, the surfaces are tight without being thin, and you can hear the mower humming a few fairways over because the grounds work hasn't stopped.
Jimmy was out there doing his thing on a green when we walked up. If you've played here more than a few times, you know him — head down, machine running, no shortcut on the work. Half the reason these greens are in the shape they're in right now is that someone is on them constantly, paying attention, not letting anything drift.
What you'll see this week
The greens. They're rolling well end to end. Hole 5 in particular was holding a bright, even surface that takes a putt cleanly — long lag putts were finishing right where you'd expect them to. Hole 6 was the same story. If you've been waiting for the right week to bring a guest, this is it.
The conditions. Fairways are full. The rough is up just enough to make you think about it without punishing a stray drive. The summer color is in — that deep, healthy green that only shows up when the soil is right and the irrigation has been consistent.
The pace. Mid-week mornings are still wide open. Walk-on golfers are getting on with no wait. Weekends pick up but it's not stacked. A round here this week feels exactly like what a community course is supposed to feel like — relaxed, friendly, and unhurried.
Jimmy keeps showing up — and it shows
It's easy to forget how much work goes into a green that just looks good. Mowing patterns, height of cut, watering windows, the timing of a roll versus a brush — none of it is dramatic, all of it adds up over the season. Jimmy and the rest of the crew here have been doing the careful, unglamorous version of all of it, and that's why a round today felt the way it did.
If you're a member, a regular, or someone who plays here a few times a season, this is your weekly reminder that Silver Spring runs on volunteers. Every round you play here keeps a community course alive in Riverside.
Come out this week
The course is in great shape, the weather is cooperating, and the tee sheet has room. Walk on. Bring a friend. Tell someone who hasn't played East Providence's best-kept secret in a while that the greens are rolling — and that they should come see for themselves.
